International Safe Abortion Day 2025: Championing Reproductive Rights
Location: Shamakhunta , Mayurbhanj
On October 8th and 9th, 2025, SAHAYOG partnered with CommonHealth to organize two crucial reproductive health programs in the Rangamatia CHC area of Shamakhunta Block. Led by Secretary Ms. Bijayalaxmi Rautaray, the drives at Badasole and Kundalmani centered on empowering young women. We facilitated vital discussions on contraception, bodily autonomy, and informed decision-making. A key focus was clarifying access to safe and legal abortion services under the progressive Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act, emphasizing that the law supports all pregnant individuals, regardless of marital status. These sessions reinforced that safe abortion is fundamental healthcare and stressed the role of families and partners in post-abortion care. SAHAYOG remains committed to advocating for the State’s duty to ensure seamless, life-saving service delivery. View More ->
