SAHAYOG

Adolescent Health

Adolescence is a pivotal time of rapid physical, emotional, and social development. At SAHAYOG, we are dedicated to championing the health and well-being of young people, ensuring they have the tools to thrive. Our program specifically addresses the unique challenges faced by adolescent girls. We believe every girl has the right to a healthy, empowered future. We work to protect their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to manage their personal health. We stand firmly against harmful practices like child marriage and gender-based violence, and we empower girls to make informed choices about their bodies and their futures.

Our Vision: My Body, My Right, My Future

To bring our vision to life, we've created five vibrant Adolescent Girls' Clubs in the Khordha and Jatani Blocks. These clubs serve as safe spaces for 250 girls (ages 13-18) to build leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of their health. Through regular training and capacity-building, we help shape positive attitudestoward safe sexual and reproductive health. Our key message is clear: My body, my right, and a safe age at marriage. We are a proud partner of Girl Up Club, a United Nations initiative. This collaboration strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive programs that give girls an equal chance at a life free from violence, with opportunities in education, health, and economic independence.

Building a Stronger Tomorrow

Our commitment extends to fostering both physical and mental well-being. We’ve established a girls' football team to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.By collaborating with local ICDS and ASHA workers, we deliver crucial education on a range of topics:

  • Life skills to navigate daily challenges.
  • Sexual and reproductive health to make informed choices.
  • Menstrual hygiene to ensure health and dignity.

Our active participation in events like Menstrual Hygiene Day and Women's Health Action Day further empowers these young women, providing them with essential knowledge and a strong support system. We're not just building clubs; we're building a generation of informed, healthy, and empowered young women ready to lead.
